Everything you need to know before booking your boiler service or gas safety check in Stoke-on-Trent.
Your Stoke-on-Trent boiler service covers a gas tightness test, internal part check and clean-up, flue terminal inspection, boiler operations and controls check-up, plus a radiator heat check. If our engineer spots an issue outside that scope, they'll flag it and quote separately before doing any extra work.
You can see our current pricing in the pricing card above — the final price depends on which service and add-ons you choose. You pay securely online when booking. See "Is the price of a boiler service fixed in Stoke-on-Trent?" for details on what's included in that price.
Yes — every CHP Home engineer holds a current Gas Safe registration. It is a legal requirement to work on gas appliances in the UK. You can verify any engineer's credentials at GasSafeRegister.co.uk using their licence number, which our engineer will provide on request. Every engineer also carries a Gas Safe Register ID card — you're welcome to ask to see it before letting them in.

Yes, in full. You have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, giving you an automatic right to cancel and a full refund within 14 days of booking. Beyond that, there's still no cancellation deadline — however close to your appointment you cancel, we'll refund the full amount to the card used for payment. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.
Only if your home has an unvented hot water cylinder, usually found in an airing cupboard or utility room — if you have a combi boiler with no cylinder, you won't need this add-on. We recommend having it serviced annually to check the safety devices and valves are working correctly; this can also help meet your manufacturer's warranty requirements, so check your cylinder's warranty terms for specifics. Our engineers are fully qualified for the work we carry out, and you're welcome to ask to see their ID on the day.
In short: any extra work is always quoted separately and entirely optional — never carried out without your agreement. Here's how the different outcomes work. If your boiler passes, you'll receive a signed boiler service record. If your boiler doesn't pass, we'll issue a gas safety warning notice as official confirmation of the issue found. If our engineer spots something that needs repairing — say, a part that's on its way out — they'll stop and talk you through it before doing anything else, then write up a proper quote so you know exactly what it'll cost. That repair is between you and the engineer directly, separate from your CHP Home booking: they'll give you their own contact details and a receipt once you've paid. And there's no pressure — if you'd rather get a second opinion, or just say no, that's completely fine, and it won't affect the service you've already booked and paid for with us. If your boiler can't be safely tested or powered on at all, that's different: your engineer will report this back to us, and we'll be in touch shortly afterwards to arrange a refund. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.
Yes — the price shown when you book is fixed, with no call-out fees or hidden extras added on the day. If our engineer finds anything outside the scope of your service during your visit, that's handled separately — see "What happens after your service?" below.
Our prices are per unit — this applies to boiler services, Unvented Cylinder Services, and Central Heating Inhibitor Refill alike. If your home needs more than one of the same service (for example, two boilers, or more than one cylinder), you can book online separately for each one.
We currently focus on boiler services. A few things we don't cover yet: boiler repairs or fault-fixing outside a service visit — if our engineer spots a fault during your appointment, that's handled separately (see "What happens after your service?" above); landlord gas safety certificates (CP12) — we currently serve homeowners only; boiler installation or replacement; LPG or oil-fired boilers — we service mains gas boilers; and emergency call-outs, since all our appointments are pre-booked online. We're growing steadily and adding new services over time.
A standard boiler service typically takes 60 to 90 minutes. If you add the cylinder check or inhibitor refill, allow around 1.5-2 hours in total. Our engineer will let you know if they spot anything that may take longer during the visit.
Once a year — ideally before the winter season. Regular servicing keeps your boiler running efficiently, which can lower your energy bills and extend its lifespan, and helps keep your manufacturer's warranty valid — see "Will servicing keep my manufacturer warranty valid?" for details.
Yes — most manufacturers (including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, and Baxi) require annual servicing by a Gas Safe registered engineer as a condition of keeping the warranty active. If your boiler passes, our engineer issues a signed boiler service record on the day that you can use as proof.
If your boiler passes, a signed boiler service record, handed over at the end of your visit — keep it safe, as it's your proof of annual servicing for manufacturer warranty claims and any future resale. If it doesn't pass, you'll receive a gas safety warning notice instead.
Yes — someone aged 18 or over needs to be in for the whole appointment, so our engineer can safely access the boiler and heating system. We'll confirm your arrival window in advance; most Stoke-on-Trent visits wrap up within 90 minutes, or around 1.5-2 hours if you've added the cylinder check or inhibitor refill.
A few things help your engineer get started straight away: clear the area around your boiler and any cylinder, keep pets in another room, make sure there's clear access to your property, and have your keys or entry details ready if someone else will be letting them in.
Your engineer will text or call you 30 to 60 minutes before they arrive. If nobody's shown up by the end of your booked slot, email hello@chphome.co.uk with your booking reference and we'll sort it out for you.
