1. Who we are
CHP Home is a trading name of Chungs Heating And Plumbing Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15554943, VAT registration number 465816168), whose registered office is at 3 Randalls Drive, Crewe, England, CW1 4GL. Chungs Heating And Plumbing Limited is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. We are a Gas Safe registered business providing boiler services and gas safety checks.
To contact us about data protection matters, please email us at hello@chphome.co.uk (subject: Privacy).
2. What data we collect
Data you provide when booking
- Full name
- Service address (full address including postcode)
- Mobile phone number
- Email address
- Parking availability at your property
- Any remarks or notes you choose to include
- Selected service type, date and time slot
Payment data
Payments are processed by Stripe. CHP Home does not receive, store or process your card details. Stripe handles all payment card data and is compliant with PCI DSS Level 1. Please see Stripe's Privacy Policy for full details.
Technical data
- IP address (recorded in server access logs)
- Browser type and version
- Pages visited and time of access
- Referring URL
Analytics data (only with your consent)
If you accept analytics — either by clicking "Accept all" on our cookie notice, or by turning Analytics on under "Manage options" and clicking "Confirm choices" — we use Google Analytics 4 to collect information about how you use the site — pages viewed, approximate location (country and city level), device and browser type, and how you move through the booking flow. Google states that in Google Analytics 4 IP addresses are not logged or stored; they are used only momentarily to derive approximate location and are then discarded. If you reject analytics, none of this is collected and no Google Analytics code is loaded.
3. How we use your data
- To fulfil your booking — confirming your appointment, assigning an engineer, sending reminders and post-service communications.
- To contact you — about your booking, rescheduling requests, or cancellations.
- To comply with Gas Safe obligations — maintaining service records as required by regulation.
- To improve our service — using aggregated, non-identifiable booking data to plan engineer availability and scheduling.
- To send appointment reminders — an email reminder ahead of your service, and a notification when your engineer is on their way.
- To measure how the website is used — we use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited and where people drop out of the booking flow, so we can improve the site. This happens only if you accept analytics cookies.
We do not send marketing emails or texts without your consent, and we do not sell your data to anyone. If we ever ask for your consent to send marketing, you will be able to withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any message we send, or by emailing hello@chphome.co.uk.
4. Legal basis for processing
- Contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR) — processing is necessary to fulfil your booking and provide the service.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) UK GDPR) — retaining gas safety records for rented or let properties, where the record-keeping duty under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 applies to the check we have carried out. That statutory duty falls on the landlord, so this basis applies only where the property is let.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — improving service quality and preventing fraud, and retaining the same gas safety records for owner-occupied properties, where no statutory record-keeping duty applies. Here we keep the record so we can evidence the work carried out, support any warranty or follow-up service, and defend or resolve a dispute if one arises. We rely on this basis only where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR) — website analytics through Google Analytics, which we only run if you accept analytics cookies. You can withdraw your consent at any time by resetting your choice on our Cookie Policy page, which explains how. Withdrawing consent stops further collection but does not make earlier collection unlawful.
5. Who we share data with
We share your data only where necessary:
- Stripe — payment processor. Stripe processes payment data on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting provider for this website and our booking management system.
- Amazon SES — transactional email delivery (confirmation, reminder, and notification emails).
- The engineers who attend — the engineers who carry out our services are Gas Safe registered, self-employed contractors engaged by CHP Home rather than our employees. Your name, service address and contact number are shared with the assigned engineer so they can carry out the service you booked.
- Notification provider — if we notify you by text message shortly before your engineer arrives, your mobile number is shared with our messaging provider solely for that purpose.
- Google LLC (Google Analytics) — website analytics. We share this data with Google only if you have accepted analytics cookies. Google acts as our processor for Google Analytics data. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not run advertising cookies or tracking pixels on this site.
- Google LLC (Google Fonts) — our pages load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. This happens on every page load and is not covered by your cookie choice, because it is a request for a font file rather than a cookie. When your browser makes that request, your IP address is sent to Google's servers so the font can be delivered. Google states that it does not use Google Fonts data for advertising or profiling. See our Cookie Policy for more detail, including how to block these requests if you prefer.
The platform providers named above — Stripe, Amazon Web Services, Amazon SES, our messaging provider and Google — are bound by data processing agreements and are required to handle your data in accordance with UK GDPR.
The engineers who attend are independent contractors rather than our employees. As a condition of joining our engineer roster, they agree with CHP Home to protect the privacy of the customer information we share with them. They remain separately responsible for how they handle that information, and if you have any concern about how your information has been handled by an attending engineer, please contact us at hello@chphome.co.uk and we will look into it.
International transfers
Some of our processors (including Stripe, Amazon Web Services and Google) may process data on servers outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or on UK adequacy regulations, to make sure your data is protected to UK standards. You can ask us for more detail about these safeguards by emailing hello@chphome.co.uk.
We will disclose your data to law enforcement or regulatory bodies if required by law.
6. How long we keep data
- Booking records — retained for 6 years from the date of service for accounting and legal purposes.
- Gas safety records — retained for at least 2 years, in line with the record-keeping period for landlords' gas safety checks under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.
- Server access logs — retained for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- Enquiry messages — kept for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry. We review enquiry messages periodically and delete those we no longer need. If your enquiry leads to a booking, the booking retention period applies instead.
- Booking self-service links — the unique link sent with your booking remains active for 60 days after your service date, after which it expires.
- Analytics data — visitor-level and event-level data in Google Analytics is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Aggregated reports, which do not identify individuals, may be kept for longer. The analytics cookies themselves last up to 2 years, or until you delete them.
- Cookie choice — the record of whether you accepted or rejected analytics is stored in your browser for 180 days, after which we ask you again.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data where there is no longer a lawful reason to hold it.
- Right to restriction — ask us to stop actively processing your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, such as website analytics, you can withdraw it at any time by resetting your choice on our Cookie Policy page. The cookie notice will then reappear the next time you load a page, where you can choose "Reject all".
We do not make automated decisions about you that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects, and we do not build marketing or advertising profiles about you. Our booking system does assign an engineer automatically once your payment succeeds, but that is purely scheduling logic: it matches your chosen date and time slot to an engineer who has that slot available in their roster. Every engineer is Gas Safe registered and holds the appropriate qualifications for the service, so which engineer is assigned does not change the service you receive, the price you pay, or any right you have under your booking.
Providing your name, address, contact details and payment information is necessary for us to enter into and carry out your service booking; if this information is not provided, we will not be able to accept your booking.
To exercise any of these rights, please email hello@chphome.co.uk with the subject line "Data Rights Request". We will respond within one calendar month.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items on this site: those needed to make it work, a small number of functional items (for example, loading fonts), and Google Analytics cookies that are set only if you accept them. For the full list, how long each one lasts and how to change your choice, please see our Cookie Policy.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email if you have an active booking with us.
